RACHEL DeREGO PIANO STUDIO

Rachel DeRego (Mendoza) graduated summa cum laude from California Baptist University in Riverside, CA with a Bachelor of Music in Music Education-Piano Emphasis. She most recently served on the Board of Directors for the Music Teachers’ Association of California (MTAC) San Diego branch as the Corresponding Secretary. Rachel is a classical trained pianist with significant experience in the program Certificate of Merit.

Rachel has previously completed all eleven levels of the program with honors and received the CM Senior Medallion Award. She has experience competing in piano competitions as well as performing at State Convention Recitals (2010, 2012) for high achievement in Certificate of Merit. She has played piano and/or sung with various performing groups including: choral union, chamber singers, and Cal Baptist University’s Women’s Choir. She served as the Co-President of Women’s Choir for two years. She has been teaching private piano lessons in San Diego for the past 5 years.

In lessons, Rachel values cultivating a well rounded musician. In order to achieve this goal, the student will study performance material, music theory, sight-reading, and ear training. Students are strongly encouraged to enter in competitions as well as to participate in Certificate of Merit. Rachel DeRego is dedicated to the success of each student through creating a positive learning environment, fostering creativity, and encouraging motivation.
